Origin Story
Lunara understands first hand the role finances play when faced with a substance use disorder or a loved one facing a substance use disorder.
Our Founding Partner & CEO Kristin, found herself as a tenured successful financial advisor currently in leadership without a financial plan for the reality she faced with the substance use disorder the father of her 3 kids was living with.
Kristin found herself in a conference room no one ever wants to be introduced to at the hospital in ICU. She was joined by her former father in law, paliative care, a neuro surgeon and hospice. Kristin had to make the decision of letting the father of her 3 children live or die after MRSA traveled to his brain leaving him unable to communicate or use his body, although concious. Grateful to have her former father in law at the helm, however without a living will or healthcare directive it compounded an already horrific circumstance. Kristin had a will and trust to provide for and protect her children, however did not have a living will or healthcare directive for her childrens father.
That evening after having to face telling her children this horrific reality and arranging their visit to see their father for possibly the last time, Kristin vowed to make certain that anyone living the reality of substance use disorder, loving someone through or helping others within the prevention, treatment & long term recovery, would have access to financial literacy, resources and proper guidance.
